I am looking for information on changing the oil in my transmission. The service manual "SA-2148" is hard to come by. Could anyone out there lead me in the right direction? Thank you, -Steve

The mechanics tips booklet is online here:

http://www.allisontransmission.com/servlet/DownloadFile?Dir=publications/pubs&FileToGet=MT3004EN.pdf

It contains the procedure for changing the oil.

I can't open this link that was posted on Allison oil changes. We have just aquired a 1993 Vectra with 50,000 miles and the Allison 6 speed trans. I will be towing a 10,000 pound trailer and need to service the trans before the first trip. Over this time Dex has been reformulated. What is the correct current oil for this transmission?
Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forum, Cam!

That link is to a "PDF" file. That is an Adobe file that is as ubiquitous as water.

Your computer needs this program from Adobe to read a PDF file.

Install the Adobe Reader, because you need it. (You just don't know that you need it.) :clown:

Thank you for the tip. I have Adobe but your suggestion prompted me to see I had another PDF open. I closed it and the link worked.
Can these transmissions handle 25000 pounds? My 5.9 has a Banks kit and should be making about 300 hp.

25000 pounds GCW is within the ratings for an MD. No problem.

Allison Transynd is a great oil for these transmissions.
