I'm getting ready to start the annual maintenance on our 2006 Fleetwood Revolution with a CAT C9 400hp engine and Allison 3000 trans. I've got an oil filter, fuel filter, new air dryer cartridge, oil, and two(?) thermostats. I'm also going to drain the coolant and replace with CAT Extended Life Coolant (and then plan to replace the coolant again after our next trip to be sure the system is full of only ELC and not a mix of ELC and what didn't drain out.
My question is this... the maintenance schedule calls to have the Allison 3000 Main oil filter replaced after 5000 miles. We are at 6700 miles now. I want to do this myself if possible. Will this require draining the oil from the transmission? Has anyone done this? Know where the filter is? Know where to order one? Or should I just take it to an Allison Service Center? Suggestions?
