i have an '04 3/4 ton extended with the duramax and allison.
i tow a 28' haulmark with race car and equipment weighing in at aroung 14,000 lbs.
the tranny temperature runs at 190 - 210.
i think this is too hot.
do i need to put on a tranny cooler and fan or possibly a deeper tranny oil pan?
would changing to a different tranny fluid bring the temp down?currently using dextron 3

thank you for your assistance

If you are going to be towing, then the better the transmission cooler you have, the better. At the end of the day, no matter what your setup is, figure out what the life of the fluid should be at your actual temperature (I know that charts exist, just not where) and change your fluid in advance of that mileage.

Your truck has a towing rating of 15,700lb. As long as you don't excede that (too often) you should be fine, but a cooler won't hurt anything either. Different oils might work, but make sure thay are approved under warranty.
