allison transmission question

AllisonMan,
I am looking at purchasing a 1992 cummins 190 pusher with a AT545 trans(55000 miles). It has an exhaust brake installed and by reading this forum I have learned that they are useless because of no lock up torque convertor.Is there a way that I can tell if the trans has been damaged? Should I stay away?
