We have a 1976 MCI 8 with an HT740 Allison transmission and every time we are driving down the highway and we go up the even slightest incline it downshifts out of high gear. It does this even traveling at highway speeds. i was just wondering if anyone knew anything about it or had the same problem..... any info would be great!!! Thanks!

Based on this brief description of the problem, it's hard to say what's going on. You might think about the following questions to better define the situation.

What is the engine RPM as you're going down the highway and any incline results in a downshift?

What speed do you normally travel at on the highway?

What's your throttle position when the downshift occurs?

Are you sure the engine is making full power?
