Hi

Are the house batteries automaticaly being charged
as soon as I plug into shore power?
I have Trogan house batteries in this 2000 Flair.
Are they a premium batt.? :)
How about the eng. start batt?

Thank You

Re: Charging house Batteries

Fred, it has been my experience that whenever you plug into shore power the converter automatically comes on to provide 12 volt power to the coach and to charge the coach batteries. The converter in my MH also has the breaker panel and fuses for the 12 volt system and a fan for cooling the unit when plugged in. As far as I know, it does NOT recharge the chassis battery. The chassis battery is charged by the engine charging system, just like in your car. The engine charging system also charges the coach batteries. I do have a switch on my dashboard that connects the coach batteries to the chassis battery, in case it should go flat and not be able to start the engine.
I went to the Trojan battery website and they seem like a reputable firm with a good product - although mainly for golf carts. I have two 6 volt golf cart batteries in my coach (not Trojans) and I like that a lot better than the one 12 volt deep cycle the MH came with.
Hopefully I haven't confused you too much.
