Holding tanks

When hooked up to city water and sewer, is it best to leave the grey and black water tank valves open, or keep them closed and only open periodically as needed ?

Great forum and appreciate the help.............. more questions to come I'm sure.

We leave the gray open all the time and just empty the black tank when about 3/4 full. Then I run the washing machine afterwards and it cleans out the hose real good.

We leave the grey and black tank valves closed and dump when needed. The grey should always be dumped after the black holding tank to flush the sewer hose out. If you leave the black tank valve open you won't get an adequate flush to the tank system and you will get a build up of fecal and paper matter that will turn hard like cement and will be next to impossible to flush out. :dead:
