Horsepower

I'm looking at a 38 ft. Safari diesel pusher with four slides. The engine is a 330 Cat and I'm concerned as to whether or not that engine is sufficient to do the job. :question:

Torque not horsepower is your main concern. A 330 Cat should manage nicely.

I have a 38' Safari with 2 slides, CAT 300/Allison 3060 and it does just fine in the hils with a toad. The CAT 300 has 860 ft/lb torque, which is more important that the HP with a diesel. You can figure each slide adds around 800-1000 lbs. Stan
