House Batteries won't charge while engine is running

I have a "new to me" 2002 Beaver Monterey Diesel pusher. I am currently stumped as my house batteries will not charge while the engine is running, chassis batteries are charging up fine... The house batteries do however charge fine from the generator and the inverter is working fine.... I have 4 brand new Interstate 6V 2200 batteries, and have triple checked to ensure the cables are hooked up correctly. I have tested with a volt meter to see if for sure they are not charging when the engine is running... Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Normally the house and start batteries are charged separately as you describe. The addition of a bird or something like it will enable the crossover charge.

cmprobert... My problem was in the control panel. I think you should look for a batt isolator, or a relay of some sort. It should have charged ok when it was new.... Some have a relay that go on with ign, hope this will help you....Metalman :) :)
