For those with Droid smart phones there is an APP that is a hot spot for WIFI. It is free and uses the data of your smart phone that you already pay for. It is secure just like your modem wifi at home. It is called FOXFI. It also works on more than one computer at a time. It works everywhere the 3d or 4g or 1g works.
Here is the link.

Not much better, does the same thing but it can run up to 8 WIFI devices. I have run two and PDANET is either usb connection or blue tooth, at least the last I used it. Also FOXFI runs on secure sites for free where PDAnet you must purchase.

Very cool. Works great with my ipad and 3G on my Droid X. Had a similar program once previously, but only worked on a rooted phone. Verizon update killed it and it stopped working. Thanks Len!

I'm wondering if the same thing happened with AT&T. My girlfriend just got FoxFi in her Samsung phone and we tried it out today to see how it goes. The signal in our phones are in full, but the Internet connection is way too slow. Any suggestions how to fix this Len?

Thanks in advance.

A lot depends on the use on the tower you are connected to. I sitting in Kapaa, Hawaii using the FOXFI at the moment on 4G and it is up and down slow fast. The speed tests I have done rate it better than DSL but not quite up to cable.
