Mobile Broadband

Hi

We are caravanners from UK and use mobile broadband in our van. This is quite cost effective but becomes prohibitively expensive whe we travel abroad.

We will be travelling to Las Vegas early September to begin a 2 month RV tour of Western USA.

We would like to buy a SIM that can be used in our Huawei E220 HSDPA USB dongle plus a couple of months PAYG top ups.

Someone recommended T-Mobile but their on-line chat operator didn't seem to understand what I needed.

We will only be staying in Las Vegas for one day before collecting our RV and don't want to spend all the time trying to sourt this out.

Please can anyone help?

rp272,

Had to laugh when I read your post. Our daughter went overseas Amsterdam twice and Vienna once to play basketball on a travelling team. All indications were that T-Mobile was the way to go. We also went to the online chat and experienced exactly what you did. Bottom line find a T-Mobile store or Kiosk and tell them what what you are tryig to do. At least here in the states our local T-Mobile store was a huge help in not only explaining to us the Sim Card stuff and one minor adjustment our daughter needed to make to her phone to allow it to be used overseas.

For as long as your Huawei E220 HSDPA USB is unlocked, you can use it with any 3G mobile broadband. Not really sure on how much you will be using the Internet while you're on the road, but the 5G mobile broadband plan from T-Mobile looks like an okay deal.
