ONAN generator problem

What would cause the generator to stop when you release the starter button? Its a ONAN Micro Lite 4000 and it was running fine and suddenly stopped. I thought it ran out of gas so filled up my class A and it starts up fine but when I release the start button it stops.

I really don't know, but it sounds like the electric fuel pump, when the start button is pushed the power is there, but when the power start button is released it stopped power to the fuel pump. But that just a guess, I am sure there will other suggestion from very smart RV'ers on here. I hope find and fix it soon and get back to camping.

Could be any number of problems such as oil pressure sensor, high temp sensor, low oil sensor or as said before a fuel problem. Don't know about the 4000 but mine will flash a code that can help with diagnosing the issue.

Len I think the low oil sensor will not let it start, it will just turn over. I saw Honda do just that when it was low on oil, when it was topped off it ran great.
