RV Solar Panel

I have an 84' model Lindy by Skyline 24' class C motorhome.
It has a small solar panel which I am guessing from size and age
probably puts out about 0.5 watt or less at 100mA or less. The
guy I bought the motorhome from said he thinks the panel is
wired directly to one of the deep cycle batteries. The
solar panel has a broken place in the middle about the size and
shape of a footprint (probably is). I decided to replace it with a
larger one. This one puts out 20 watts at 1.5 amps.

My question is, will the motorhome power system automatically
protect the batteries from overcharge or will I need to install
a separate regulator to keep from frying my batteries?

Thanks.

I belive for about $30.00 you can purchase a solar power regulator that will protect your power system form overcharging.
cheap insurance.
