Depends on the dish. If it is the manual crank up it will work fine with either Direct or Dish. If it is the automatic Trav'ler it can be converted with a kit from Winegard from Direct to Dish.
The reverse - Dish to Direct - can't be done because the motors used with Dish are too small for Direct. The Direct dish is larger than the one for Dish.
If it is old style Winegard automatic dish it should be possible for it to work with either one but it is no longer supported by Winegard so I don't know if you can get any info from Winegard on it.
