Too much weight, not enough truck?

We're looking at buying a hi low camper that weighs 4700. My 05 sport trac manual says it's good for 5300. I'm worried that the weight is too close. What do you think? Thanks for the input.

Sounds close to me. If you put much of anything in the trailer, you are pushing the limit. Remember, you have to STOP that trailer too.

And the 5300 is only good if you don't have any accessories installed on the truck, any cargo, any passengers, and only weigh 150 pounds. Anything added to the truck, comes off that 5300 pound towing capacity.

Tow weight add about 20% to the trailer weight then thik whether you will be towing on flat ground.
