Towing a trailer with a Toyota Tacoma

I have a 2006 Tacoma, rated at 6,500 towing capacity. Anyone out there tow a trailer with a Tacoma? We plan on doing a lot of traveling in the mountains. We are considering a trailer with dry weight of 3,875. Any concerns, advice, opinions? Thank you.

With the dry weight you said your trailer has i would go for it! The loaded weight is what matters most and people dont consider. You would be surprised at the weight one could load! Keep the tanks drained while towing. We tow alot of trailers and see alot of folks towing trailer in San Diego with Toyota's.

I would believe what type of trailer (pop-up, TT) and size of motor would play into the equation. Especially in the mountains.

i would put it on the scales at a truck stop for safety sake - 10% fudge factor and you are ready to make a decision!
