towing capability

Brand new to Escapees,but have towed travel trailers for the last 4 years. I have a 2006 f-250 super duty 4x4. I have seen 2 different weight ratings for towing. One is approx. 12,500 lbs., the other is approx. 15,500 lbs. I also read the GCVW is about 23,5000 lbs. Any input appreciated as to where the truth might lie? We would like to upgrade to a toyhauler(toy weighs 1200 lbs.), so we don"t want to make any mistakes we can"t recover from.

Bob, welcome to the forum.

You did not say what engine you have, that makes a big difference in what you can tow....Your owners manual will tell you what you need to know, just match up your truck in the manual, and you will know your tow rating.
