Water pump question

Our water pump seems to be on the fritz. When we turn it on, it runs constantly, even when no faucet is on. Is installing a new pump a fairly simple process, or do we need to make an appointment at a dealer?

seems like you have a leak in the water system. The pump is only suppose to run when you have water running. It may be a bad pump also. But go have it checked out before any water damage is done if there is a water leak. I dealer can fix the problem which ever it is.,, Good luck

Agree you may have a leak, check that out first. Is it pumping water to faucets? If so then the pressure sensor is maybe bad. If its not pumping AND you have water then the pump could be bad. Now changing the pump(and this depends on how EZ it is to get to) is a simple process. Turn water to pump off, unhook electrical leads, Unscrew inlet and outlet from pump, unbolt pump from mounting, reverse to install. You didn't say what pump you have but there are dirrect replacements.

Make sure the City Water Fill Valve (if you have one) is not in the fresh water fill position. That will cause the symptom you have
