1979 Shasta 17' -- Weight?

I am thinking of buying a 17' 1979 Shasta. Does anyone know the approximate weight of one of these older models? I have a V6 pickup I plan to use for towing. I have also looked at a 18' 1971 Snowy Mountain Smokey but the Shasta has several new items added.

Best thing to do is run it across a truck weight scale to find the true weight. What make is your v6?

While CNash is right, there should also be a plate somewhere in the trailer that lists the gross weight rating. That too is important.

I have a Dodge Dakota with a 3.9L V6. Specs say it can tow up to 2500lbs.

My 76 prowler is 24.5' and is ~6,800lbs. I'm thinking yours may be in the 4,500 to 5,100lb range but we'll see.

Forget what my guess for the weight was. I didn't take into account that the 17' may only be a single axcel so it would weigh less. :blackeye:
