30 to 50 Amp Conversion

I have a 1991 Fleetwood Southwind. It currently has a 30 Amp circuit and can only run one air conditioner at a time. Living in the south where daily temps are reaching 95 degrees I would like to run them both at the same time during the day. As you know it will take 50 Amp service to do this.

Has anyone ever converted from 30 to 50 Amps and who did it?

Thanks!

Richard,

Sounds like your second (whichever this is) was an add-on rather than factory installation. This may make it easier as the circuits should be isolated.

It will greatly depend on how the current A/C units are connected.

If you have only 1 breaker, you likely have a connection from the breaker to unit 1 then to unit 2.

If you have 2 breakers and 1 unit is connected to each, you may want to do as Mr. Nash suggests and use a separate line to your RV for a second A/C unit.

If you are not familiar or uncomfortable with electrical work, you probably should have an electrician look at it even if you do the work yourself.

Here is another similar thread you may want to watch.
