454 Chevy Engine Tapping

I have a 1993 Winnebago Brave with a 454 Chevy Engine. After a 4,000 mile trip this past summer in the heat it developed a slightly tapping lifter. I am getting ready to change the oil, and a friend recommend using Lucas Engine Oil Stabilizer to help. Any other recommendations out there?

I had a Ford F150 with a lot of miles,I bought a can of motor flush at pep boys ,followed directions, changed oil and fiter, ran it 500 miles changed oil and filter again and added the Lucas to it and has been fine ever since. :cool:

Jim, you need to remove the valve cover and check the valve lash if it taps all the time.

I agree with Chelse, sounds like a rocker arm backed off. Also there is some thing called engine restore that helps the older engines out
