Air Deflector

Does anyone use an air deflector on their truck when towing? You know, those wing looking things that mount on the roof of the truck and deflect air up and over the trailer. What are your thoughts, help with reducing drag? Increase fuel mileage? Or is it just a big, ugly thing sitting on the roof  Thanks for any feedback.

Re: Air Deflector

For the most part it is sitting on your roof. Some are prettier than others. The best it will do is help keep the front of the fifth wheel cleaner.

It will not help mileage much. If it does help some, factor the cost of the thing, divided by the mpg increase and you will figure out you have to drive a LOT of miles to break even.

Think what you are towing makes a big difference. Son tows his race car hauler with a 454 duelly and it really helps at 70 MPH. With the deflector no problem but w/o that is the top speed. DL you could put DODGE DIESEL on the deflector
