Hi there!
I I am brand new to this website and travel trailers all together. I am trying to self diagnose our water heater. We just bought a used 1994 24' Prowler travel trailer,l it is parked at a lake camping lot. I have an Atwood gas/electric water heater. We tried the electric, and the water heats up (which was the highlight of my day). Then we tried the gas, since we dont have a permanent electric on the lot yet, we were running off a borrowed generator.
When we tried the gas for the water heater, the pilot lit, but the main burner would not come on. I have an Atowwd pilot light model, I was told that I have to hold the knob to "pilot" posistion, light it, and hold it on "pilot position for one minute, then turn the knob to "on" position. The pilot lit and stayed lit while holding the knob on "pilot", but as soon as we turned it to "on" the pilot went off and nothing else happened.
I truely appreciate any advice you are willing to offer.
Thanks!
