Can anybody help me find a Left Hand Spring Assembly replacement part (part number 1636-08) for a Carter Shades Jiffy Shade II? My father-in-law needs this RV awning part; he was given a run-around to find a supplier of this brand of awning. "Carter Shades" seems to be out of business, and a few other places he called and was referred to were also out of business. 
The LH spring (single spring on 36" wide awning) is broken, although at this time, he has not taken the unit apart/off of the motorhome.
:question: Any help, are there generic parts (I have searched online), or does he have to buy an entire new shade?
