bumper hitch

I was considering putting a bumper hitch on my 25' sprinter so that I can take my families bicycles on our trips. I call a hitch place and they told me that the the bumper hitch would break my bumper since it is very weak. He said that I would need to weld a "frame mounted receiver" instead that would cost $400 bucks (The bumper hitch is only $75). Does anybody have any advice? Thank you, Nelson

The frame mounted hitch is certainly much better, but there is a bumper mount that bolts on with "U" bolts. We have had good luck with it, especially if you bolt it on where the bumper is welded. Put a strap on each side of the weld joint and it is much stronger than in the middle of the bumper.
