We went RV’ing for the first time this summer and to make matters more interesting, we flew over from Scotland, UK and picked up our RV in San Francisco. We rented our RV from El Monte. They were great. The RV was brand new – still had the factory plastic on the inside – and it surprised me that El Monte were happy for a complete novice to set off with just a few minutes of instruction. Most of the campgrounds we stayed in were KOAs – Santa Cruz, Mariposa, and Manchester Beach – and all of them were superb. Manchester Beach was the best but I wish someone had warned me about Highway 1 ! Mariposa was also good, especially for access into Yosemite. The kids probably enjoyed Santa Cruz the best because of the cool three wheeler bikes that you could rent.
