Hello Everyone,
I am new to the RV world and have a few questions.
We are looking at buying a 2007 Skyline Nomad 291 Ltd. The dry weight tag says 6050 lbs.
I will be pulling it with a 1999 GMC Sierra Extended Cab 1/2 ton 4x4 with 5.3 litre vortec. The manual says it will pull 7500 lbs ( 3.73 gear) or 8000 lbs ( 4.10 gear ). I am not sure which gear ratio I have, how do you tell?
Is this too much trailer for my truck? The dealer as usual says no problem. I have a topper on the truck as well but would be willing to remove it to save weight. Does adding extra leaf springs make any difference?
I am from Southwestern Ontario so most trips will be within 1-2 hours from home on relatively flat roads with possibly one trip a year going up north which will be a greater distance and steeper grades.
Thanks for your time,
Scott Gilchrist
