fifth wheel pin weight

what is the 2005 ford 250 4x4, maxium pin weight rating for a fifth wheel on this tk?the maxium towing is 15,000 lbs, the rear axle is rated at 6100lbs any advise please email me at rbrianson@aol.com asap...thanks brian

The maximum pin weight rating would be 6100 minus whatever the rear axel weight is with the truck loaded and passengered just how it will be when towing... If you don't have the hitch yet, subtract that weight as well.

Note that (at least in the past), the 'towing weight' was for a truck with no accessories, no cargo, no passengers - just a 150 pound driver and a bit of gas...

Go and have your truck weighed and subtract that weight from your GVWR and that will give you your pin weight, just remember to have full gass tank, Hitch, and anything else in your truck that usually goes with you

sorry, no, if you subtract truck weight from GVWR you have the CCC or Cargo Carrying Capacity, that is weight which can be applied to both the front and rear axels. Pin weight is mostly applied above the rear axel, so you want to subtract the weight of the rear axel fully loaded from its max rating (6100 lbs he says). This tells you about how much weight the trailer can add to the rear axel, or maximum pin weight.
