generator feedback

New to RV/Camper owner, and had a quick question that I was hoping to get some feedback on. I'm looking at getting a generator for my TT, it's a 99, 30 ft Trail Lite. There are two generators that I found online, within a reasonable price range, but wanted to check and see what you all thought about them, as far as personal experience, noise levels, and capabilities. There's a Champion 4k model, with the specs below,

•Receptacles: 20-amp/120-volt duplex, 30-amp/120-volt twistlock, 30-amp/120-volt RV
•Single cylinder four-stroke 196 cc air cooled engine
•68 dB noise level

the ETQ 4k model

•Engine Model--168
•Engine Type--Single Cylinder, 4 stroke, OHV
•Engine Displacement--208 cc
•Fuel Tank Capacity--4 Gallon
•Fuel Consumption--13 hours @ 50% load
•Continuous Output--3250 Watt
•Surge--4000 Watt
•Rated Current @ 120 V--27.08 Amp @ 120 Volts
•Max Current @ 120 V--33.33 Amp @ 120 Volts
•Noise Level @ 23 ft--65 db

I'm pretty much looking to stay around the 400-800 dollar range, and would like to try and get 1 genny that can handle it all, while staying below the db range that's acceptable(which I honestly have no idea what it is).
Brand new to this, so any and all advice would be appreciated. Also, if you happen to know of other generators within this price range, around 4k watts, I'd also be glad to hear about them! Thanks!

Re: generator feedback

Hello and welcome to best forum on the net. I really don't know anything about the 2 you have asked about. I do know that a lot of RV'ers are using a Honda 3000ie, and they are real quite and seem to run for ever on a tank of gas. We have several RV dealers on here and Ken at GTS IMO is the best and he sell generators so maybe he can give you a answer. Happy camping, BTW what part of the states are you from?

Re: generator feedback

Thanks for the response! I got some good news today, and found out that we're getting the Honda EU2000, the Companion, and the paralelling cable as a gift today, so that pretty much takes care of my generator questions. That being taken care of, leads me to my next question....camping in the winter. What is the possibility, if any, of being able to use the water tank for toilet and shower in the winter time, in PA? I was kind of thinking, that if using the shower is out of the question, would it be possible to mix water and antifreeze, and at least use the toilet? Thanks!

Re: generator feedback

The inside of the TT will be heated, if the temps goes below freezing then you will need to take care of the water coming in and the water going out. That can be done with insulation, or heat wrap strip on the water hose. But all depends on the temperature out side. But all of this is if you are camping at a camp ground with full hook ups. There are several full time camper on here that provide a better view on how to winter camp. I do not winter camp and what I said is my opinion only.
