Looking for nice Roanoke,Va campground

[Steve B] If anyone has had any experience in a Roanoke Va. campground, we&#039d like to know about it. We&#039ve stayed around there a couple times, but weren&#039t impressed with the places we stayed. I know there is Roanoke Mountain Park on the Parkway, but I don&#039t think they have hookups. I think there are a couple around Smith Mtn. lake, but I can&#039t find anything in my books about them. We have several trips to the area coming up, so we&#039d like to find somewhere decent. Thanks.

Looking for nice Roanoke,Va campground

[Hal Paine] Steve...there is a nice state park at Smith Mountain Lake. We stayed there last October, and were the only campers there (kinda spooky, actually). Water and electric, dump station. Also check Claytor lake on I-81 south of Roanoke. Virginia State Parks reservations:www.dcr.state.va.us/parks/index.htm
