Ready to begin full time - was told to purchase at least a 38' fifth wheel, but am concerned about being able to go off road, and to fit in the state parks and Bureau of Land Mgmt. etc. Anyone have any advice? Thanks

I think that is to long, maybe try a 32 foot and make sure you have the truck to pull it. Nothing short from a dully with plenty of HP.

Take a look at the Titanium line by Glendale RVs. The design is unique.

Pamys, I've been doing a TON of research on 5th Wheels for about a month, with the same idea in mind eventually. I've seen a number of ads for used 5Ws where people say they're selling 36+ units to buy a SMALLER rig. How many people would be living in it with you? I'm pretty drawn toward the 36' Carri Lite (Carriage w/5 slides) but with the same concern you have for parking/access limitations, I then looked at a sweet little 33-foot they have with 2 facing slides in the living area and an island kitchen (another slide as I recall). I'm leaning toward the notion that a trade-off like access is worth paying attention to.
