Need info on HellsGate SP
We just got back from Hellsgate St. Park, it is a very nice place. Us and just one other camper was there this weekend,it's right on the banks of the Snake river. There are three camping loops A,B&C. Loop A is the only loop open this time of the year A16,18,19,21,23,25,27,29= full hook up. The rest in A loop is electric/water hookups only. A loop is made up of pull-thoughs on the inside of the loop and back-ins on the outside of the loops. The sites varied between 30-60 feet in length.
Loop B is set up the same way. B39 is the only full hookup site. The rest are electric/water sites, the sites seem to average about 30-50 feet in length.
C loop appears to be setup for tent camping most sites fairly short, with common shared water supply's by the road. All the loops have a shower/bathroom building in the middle. Very grassy sites, with asphalt parking strip, all the sites are very roomy. Your neighbor is not right on top of you! There is a sandy beach by the swimming area. Several program area's. The park has a marina and day use park, at the marina during the summer months you can rent all kinds of boats and other kinds of water toys. The weather was just perfect for us this weekend It got down to the mid 30's at night and in the lower 50's during the day! Made for good hiking/biking day time temps(note: watch out for the puncture weeds if you go of the asphalt path) For a awesome view of the area drive up the Old Spiral Highway, its a very windy, somewhat steep and narrow road, but once on top from the view point you can see all three states(Oregon,Washington,Idaho)
