Anyone been lately? Do you have to havea passport to cross to the Canadian side? Will just a birth certificate still work. Any campground in the area that you would reccomend?

We are going to Vancouver. Travel agent said we had to have a passport. Said wait time is several months to get one

Hey Chelse, when are you going? We are heading that way in May. We stayed there years ago at a Campground that was more like a swap in May. I need to check out which one it was so I don't go back. Seems like it was out from Niagara by about 10/15 miles because it was cheaper. Not a good deal. The campers next to us missed the space/pad by a foot or so and had to be towed out with the campground tractor. :(

I think the new rules require a passport for air travellers. Not sure that they apply to walkers/drivers (yet), but I would have one 'just in case' if at all possible. I took a tour bus over there a few years back and everyone on the bus had one.

I think the new rules are in effect. Passports required by all for entry back into U.S.

The Campground that reminded me of a swamp in May was a KOA located in Lewiston, NY. About 10 miles North of Niagra Falls. It may be a wonderful Resort Park by now.

At this time, passports are only required for air travel back into the U.S. The passport requirement for vehicular and foot travel was amended. It will go into effect next year. Right now the wait time for passports is almost 4 months.

Re: Nigara Falls

Thanks all for the information. I thought that the new rule for passports were suposed to go into effect the first of this year but, could not find anything but confusion on the internet concering the passport issue. Hmmm, seems as though some have no problem getting across our borders  maybe I can just learn from them

DL, we were wanting to go around the first of May but, the doctors told my Grandaughter the twins (first greats) could arrive anytime so guess we'll wait them out. Not due until late June so think it would be to early for them to try and make in into the world now.

Re: Nigara Falls

Susan and I went to the falls in Feb. We took our birth cert. . but was not ask for it when we returned. A passport is required if you go into Canada by water or air at this time. I believe a passport will be required next Feb. 08. Take a birth cert. for any kids traveling with you. The new casino is real nice. Food is the cheapest in the falls area. It was $10. for breakfast, $15. for lunch, and $20. for supper. All very good.
The Hilton gave us a voucher for ($75.). Dinner-Prime Rib and coffee, Strip stake and tea. No drinks--$142. Very good but!
