NO POWER AFTER A POP

I LOST POWER COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING AFTER HEARING A LOUD POP OR BANG. I GUIDED THE RV TO THE SHOULDER DESPITE THE QUICKLY FAILING POWER STEERING. NEITHER THE ENGINE NOR THE GENERATOR COULD BE RESTARTED, DESPITE HAVING A GOOD CHARGE ON THE AUXILLARY BATTERY. FORTUNATELY THE AUXILLARY BATTERY COULD SUPPLY POWER TO OPERATE THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS FOR THE THREE HOURS IT TOOK TO GET A TOW. ONCE AT THE REPAIR SHOP, I FOUND AT LEAST THE AC SYSTEM WORKED AFTER PLUGGING INTO AN ELECTRICAL SOURCE AND IT RECHARGED THE THEN WELL-DRAINED AUXILLARY BATTERY. THE ENGINE NEVER RESTARTED.

A MECHANIC CANNOT LOOK AT IT UNTIL AFTER THE HOLIDAY. I AM ANXIOUS TO KNOW IF THIS WILL BE A REPAIR THAT IS GOING TO BE A NIGHTMARE. IS IT LIKELY A PROBLEM WITH THE ALTERNATOR, ISOLATOR, OR A FANBELT AND ARE ANY OF THOSE EXPENSIVE?
