Overnight stays any place in Northeast during winter - with power?

Hi all,

We would like to travel down from Ontario to South Carolina but instead of the usual overnight stays in a motel (where we don't sleep etc), we are thinking of selling our travel trailer and getting a motor home. But cannot drive 20 hours straight. Realize we can pull into a Walmart but does not do any good without power (i.e. no furnace). Are there any places open in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, North Carolina etc where they will either supply power free for a night or for a nominal charge e.g. Campers World maybe or truck stops etc? Would be probably 2 nights going down and back.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. If you get a Motor Home it should have a generator which will supply power. Some smaller MH may not. Also you will have house batteries and if hey are in good condition should supply 12 volt power for one night. Be hard to find places that will supply power free of charge although some CW may

Hopefully your motorhome will have a built-in genset. If it doesn't you could pick up a small 2kw suitcase generator which will run your furnace and some lights. Just be sure to chain it to your bumper at night or you might wake up cold and power-less.
