How do you handle the plates and inspection issue ? If we are in Arizona and it is time to buy plates or our Texas inspection sticker is about to expire, what do we do if we are only in that state for a couple of months ?

Texas sends renewal notices for plates each year. You should get the notice about six weeks prior to expiration. Mail the renewal notice and check back to Texas. You should receive your new plate stickers in a couple of weeks. As far as inspection, there is no need to make a special trip just to get reinspected. Its ok if the current inspection sticker expires while out of the state. However, the next time you pass through Texas stop at any inspection station (there are tons of them) and get reinspected.

Agree with the above but make it easy. When you get your renewal notice you will also get directions to renew online. You can do that with a credit card and they will send your sticker to any address in the country. Forget inspection until next time you pass through Texas. Mine is two years old and my dealings are with Travis County where they will also mail your renewal notice out of state in case you worry about mail forwarding. They also validate your insurance for you so no hassle there.

Renew on-line as they have said. It is easy and if you don't have a pc in your unit, go to the nearest library and see if they have internet pc's for public use (they do in Cocoa Beach Florida....I'm on it right now).
Good luck
:)

Austintx200, we do belong to Escapees and it is well worth it, if you use their services. We are fulltimers and we use the mail forwarding services as our legal residence as well as for mail forwarding. And we often stay in one of the 18 Escapee RV parks which members do for an average of $10 per night with full hook-ups. And they also have a directory of affiliated RV parks that give members 15% discount. And they have a great number of other benefits that can be better explained by visiting the Escapees website. If you do not plan to keep your house, you will be hard pressed to find a support organization that will come close to what this organization does. And they are the very best of the RV clubs as well.
