Recommended oil

Just bought a very nice '85 Southwind w/chevy 454. Getting ready to do a heavy tuneup and am curious as to recommendations for winter and summer oil choices. I use Mobil 1 synthetic in my other cars according to manufacturer recs. Apologies if this has been a commonly recurring thread. Any other suggestions re. any peculiar maintenance needs of these engines is appreciated as well.
Thanks.

Re: Recommended oil

Hey tsandness, welcome to RVUSA. Don't see why mobile 1 won't work. Diesels require a special weight and other soot related specs, but a chevy 454 should purr with synthetic.

RE: Recommended oil

Chevrolet recommends 10-30 weight oil and I switched mine over to Mobil 1 when I bought the MH (37,000 miles on the 454 in a 1988 HR Alumalite XL). If I were headed to Death Valley in July, I'd probably switch to Red Line but still use 10-30 weight. If I were in Fargo, SD in the winter, I'd not be running the motorhome but if I had to, I'd switch to 0-30 weight.
