Repairing a tear in material without sewing

If you have a tear in a seat or padded lawn chair you can fix it using fusable fabric.

Take a piece of fusable fabric (you can buy them at any fabric store) that is at least 1/2 inch longer and wider than the tear on each side, a piece of strong fabric the same size, and a hot iron. Place the fusable on top of the strong fabric and place them inside the tear so that they extend evenly on all sides. Make sure that the fusable is on top of the strong material. It must be the layer between the seat material and the strong material. Squeeze the sides of the tear together, place a tea towel on top and apply a hot iron slowly over the whole area.

This should fuse the seat material to the strong material, holding the tear together. Pressing the tear with the iron should seal the tear.
