RI/Conn campground

I'm looking for a good campground on the route between Newport, RI, and Mystic, Conn. Want to camp for a few days and take day trips to see both of those places. The Fisherman's Memorial State Park near Narragansett looked good until I saw on the web site that a five day minimum stay is required, and we won't be staying that long. Any other suggestions?
