Tongue Weight

We are looking at a new trailer. The tongue weight is 820 lbs it is a front kitchen set up. Total weight of the trailer is 5250 lbs. What effect on towing does the tongue weight have? We plan to pull with a GMC sierra 1/2 ton 4x4 4:10 gears with air bags and an equalizer hitch. The sister trailer to the front kitchen has a tongue weight of 420 lbs. Does this make the trailer easier to tow? Thanks for your help.

Tongue Weight

You want the tounge weight on the hitch to be 10 to 15 percent of the total trailer weight. The lighter, the more chance of wiggle. The heavier, more need for weight distribution hitch to balance things out and more chance to overload your tow vehicle's rear axle/rear tire weight limits.
