TOW TRUCK

[Les Adams] 3/4 ton pickup minimum, preferably long wheelbase and motor size in excess of 400 cubic inches(large V8 or V-10)... Minimum axle ratio of 3:73, 4:10 would provide more performance at the cost of some mileage... 4wd optional but would provide better traction under adverse conditions such as mud or gravel... Same for limited slip differential... I have both and find them to be useful under certain conditions...

I tow a 27&#039 #6300 TT with F-250 SD 4X4 SWB Super Cab with V-10, auto od trans and 3:73LS... Towing performance is quite good... Average 8-9.5 MPG under most conditions... Weight of truck and trailer w/passengers is #13,700 with #800 tongue weight... 6.8L V-10 equates to 415 cubic inches... This is new Ford motor rated at 310HP and 425 foot/pounds torque...

Best Regards,
Les
