Towing my Dodge truck (forwards or backwards ???)

I am purchasing a 1997 Newmar Mountain Aire 37' Gas Class A. I plan on towing my 2 door 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 behind it on a toad. I have been told that I have to tow the truck backwards with the back wheels on the toad since the truck in rear wheel drive. Would towing the truck forwards (in neutral, the truck is a 6 speed manual shift) with the rear wheels down hurt the transmission? I plan on towing it for less than 100 miles one way when I do travel with it.

Look in the manual for the truck to confirm, but I am reasonably sure you can tow 4 down. Toad is the term for the pickup itself.

As stated check your owners manual, but if OK then you have the option of towing using either
(A) tow bar 4 wheels down
(B) placing the front wheels on a tow dolley

Either process will work and for short towes you may not need a additional braking system for the towed vehicle

Good point Phil forgot the braking system, You will need this as a lot if not most states require this.
