water faucet

I have a 2010 Damon (astoria) and have a problem with the kitchen sink faucet leaking out of the top when you use it.Have replaced the seals and still leaks.I still have a warenty but if it was simple I would do it myself. We all know how fast warrenty service is.Will take it back if I have to but didnt want to drive the 200 miles for a leak.Any help here. Thanks  :blackeye:

:approve: Welcome to RVUSA Wildcat. Would you please tell us a little more about this leak. Like where is the leak exactly.

RE: water faucet

Ok triple E will try to explain it .When I turn the faucet on it comes out around the top of the plastic,as I have the 1 handle that operates everything.Inturn it will leak downbelow into the cabinet area.I can see the water seap out from the top, making it tighter doesnt help.Really dont know if it assembled right as I cannot find a schematic.

Re: water faucet

Wildcat, if I were you, I would replace the whole faucet. They are a standard plumbing fixture, available at Lowes, Home Deport, Walmart, etc. I had to replace mine in my motorhome for the same reason.

I'm nor sure if the manufacturers use those plastic fixtures trying to save weight or, more likely, money. It is an easy fix if you are at all handy around the house. If not, and it's still under warranty, take it back to the dealer and let him know just how mad you are that they put cheap stuff in expensive RV's.

Yep, I agree with jimmy. Have you called your dealer and ask them to send a new one to you? You might have to send the old one back but worth giving it a try. ;) :approve:

Re: water faucet

Working on the dealer, but they tell me the computor is down,ha,akjimmy the faucet is not the same as what you can buy in the local store, holes are to close together. Also I have coran counter tops and wonder if it can be redrilled to handle the com type, which I would love to put in.Maybe the answer is to send this back ,but I dont really want to put the same junk back in.Any how thanks for the help.

Re: water faucet

Most all I have seen can be replaced with standard house faucetts but I haven't seen yours. Would not be suprised if they decided to put something in other than standard parts  Have you measured the distance of the holes? Has to be a defected faucett or missing seal IMO

Re: water faucet

See Ken's (Grandview Trailer Sales) post under Faucets in RV Tips and Tricks. Faucets are going to be either 4 inch or 8 inch on center, unless your manufacturer invented his own, and both are available at hardware/home improvement stores.

Corian can be redrilled or the holes expended to make a new faucet fit. Once again, depends on how handy you are. Good luck.

Personally, I would be jumping up and down on the dealer's desk. Make him do the repair, demand an upgraded faucet, and tell him to get reimbursed from the manufacturer. Computer down my a**. That excuse doesn't fly, and I'd be letting him know in no uncertain terms.

Re: water faucet

Ok,think I will go to the hardware store and purchase a new 1,fiqured at 8MPG/4.00 a gal and 180 miles round trip it would be cheaper to replace it with a good one.So will try to find one that is not all that expensive and replace it.jimmy,my holes are 3 in,so go figure what they did.Anyway guess I will drill some new ones and the plate will cover it.will let you know how it all comes out. Also jimmy did 22 with the army myself, out in 75.

Re: water faucet

all sounds like you have a great idea on what you want to do. So good lucjk on changing it out. I am suprise on the 3'' hole for the fix. most are just the size for the faucet to fit in. But have seen some that large so that the hot and cold water lines would fit thru one hole in stead of separte holes for a single lever faucet. anyway good luck and enjoy

Re: water faucet

Well I have a new faucet in and what a problem it was.The lines was 2 different sizes,so that meant a few trips to the locale hardware store.Boy they love me.Had to only drill 1 hole for the hold down bolt.Think this will take care of the problem and it looks like it came with the camper.Never new corian was so easy to drile. Thanks again all and maybe we all learnt something, know I did.

Re: water faucet

If you did a plumbing job with just a few trips to the hardware store you did great. Thanks for letting us know it can be done. Still came out cheaper than back to the dealer and now if it's not done right you know who to blame  ;)

No matter what - it ALWAYS takes more than one trip to the hardware store. Glad it worked out for you.
