west coast trip planning

Hi Everyone,
a few weeks ago several of you helped me to plan my trip of the west coast. Just letting you know that we fly out from Australia in 2 days time and pick up our rental rv in L.A. Heading straight out to Vegas and hopefully onto Yellowstone(weather permitting). On the subject of Yellowstone does anyone know what the weather has been like. We think we will get there for about the 7th Oct.
We will need to buy some cold weather clothing. Can anyone recommend where we can buy some cheaply inbetween L.A. and Yellowstone. Is it really cold in Zion N.P. and Bryce canyon at night. If so we may need to buy our clothing prior to them.

Anyway thanks to you all for the invaluable advice but especially to Kirk for helping with exit strategys if the weather in Yellowstone is bad.
I will let you all know how we go. :) :) :)

Plan on Bryce and Zion being in the 30's at night/morning in Oct and in the 40's to 60's during the daytime. It can even snow if a cold front comes through. Bryce will be the coldest as it is at a higher elevation. Yellowstone can really get cold in Oct.

Clothes can be picked up at WalMart if you want to keep your costs down. You can find Walmarts in just about any town. While you are in WalMart pick up one of their Rand McNally Road Maps. It has all the WalMart locations in it. ;)

You might also want the Next Exit book which will give cg, gas stations and food at each exit of the freeways. Can be purchased at most book stores such as Books A Million. Some Wal Marts might have them.
