brake controller

We are looking at a tt. It would be our first trailer( we now own a small MH). Once we thought we had completed the deal on a Jayco tt the dealer stated that we would need a brake controller intstalled on our Ford F150 which is to be out tow vehicle.(cost approx. $200)

I thought the brake controller came on the tt. Are there two parts--one on the tt and one on the tow vehicle?

Any help would be appriciated as you can tell we don't know much about tt.

Yes your dealer is correct. You will have to install a brake controller in your Ford. Your F-150 may already be pre wired. Do you have the 4 pin or 7 pin plug at the rear of your truck? If you have the 4 pin you will need to install a 7 pin plug and the controller. If you already have a 7 pin, there should be a (blue?) wire up and under you dash on the driver side, this wire isfor the controller.Now all you have to do is buy the controller and have it installed. Enjoy your new Jayco. :8ball:
