First time RVing in Canada - camping without reservations?

Hi
We are travelling from the UK in June and plan to take a few trips from Toronto in a hired RV, probably exploring the area around Algonquin Park and the Sandbanks area.
However I have been doing research on the internet and some sites are telling me that you need to reserve campgrounds up to five months in advance in these areas!
To me, the appeal of an RV holiday is the opportunity to go where we want, when we want. Rather naively, I realise now, we were hoping to just be able to phone a few days in advance and reserve a site. Is there anywhere within these areas where this is possible? Is there anywhere in similar areas where this is popular? Or is my idea of RVing just a pipe dream..?
All and any advice is most welcome.
Thanks,
Suzi

it is possible, someone cancels or does not show up, if they ask you to reserve 4 to 5 months in advance may be just a sales gimmick or could be the right idea, good luck in your decision,
we found campsites all over that could takes us in for a night or to, some real good , some no so good,
