Problem with Allison 3000 transmission

I have a 1998 Newmar diesel pusher with a Cat 300HP and an Allison 3000 tranny. Just lately I am having trouble getting it into Drive. It goes into R correctly and even N okay. But it is very difficult to get into Drive. It hav the electronic transmission... Any ideas???

Does it have a push button selector? What does the selector say when you are trying to get it into drive? Is the D flashing?
