Question about the smaller diesel engines

We are shopping for our first RV after several years of renting RV's from class C's, super C's and both gas and diesel class A's. We have decided that a diesel pusher is the right set up for us. With our budget($50k) many of the RVs are 2001-2002 with the smaller 260 and 275HP diesels. Are these engines powerful enough to tow 3500lbs at a decent speed? I understand long grades will be slow and we are fine with that but I don't want it to be struggling all the time.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

I have a CAT with 275 HP 36 foot class A. I tow 3800lbs and can feel it some on the hills. Before I was towing 3200lbs and never felt it. But I do feel the added 600 lbs. I would not worry about it. :approve:
