Nash, we have been on a large portion of Route 66. We actually tried to drive the entire portion that still exists but ended up losing it so many times we gave up...However, the parts that we drove were fantastic!
I would suggest googling it and see what you can find out. Our interstate system is wonderful at times but it has caused a bunch of the old routes to dry up.

We stayed in Sligman Az. --cute little town but -------gas is very expensive---its the last station for 95 miles so fill up before you get there and have a spare jug of fuel. Go to the local bar--only bar and mingle with the locals. Ask for Ed the water man--interesting story and people. They have statues of Marylin Monroe and James Dean in the streets. Have fun
