I have purchased a 30 foot Fleetwood Prowler 5th Wheel and I took it for a test drive today. My Toyota Tundra is rated to tow upto 10,400 lbs and has 381 hp. The 5th wheel weighs around 7,000 lbs. with a tongue weight of 1422lbs. I had been told that the tongue weight was not a problem for the Tundra since it has a payload of 1680lbs. But, from the looks of the bed being pushed down with the 5th wheel hooked up to it has me wondering if I should get a bigger truck. Also, the truck had a tough time on some hills and had a tough time going 65.
Would heavy duty shocks and airbags be enough to keep the truckbed level. I thought that the 381 hp would be enough to tow the 5th but now I am wondering.
I would appreciate everyone's opinions and suggestions.
